Business Application Analyst
The role is responsible for the deployment, maintenance, and optimisation of the firm’s legal technology stack and generative AI (GenAI) applications.

The role
The Business Application Analyst will play a key role in supporting the firm’s technology strategy by bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions. The role will focus on analysing business processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and recommending practical, technology-driven solutions that enhance efficiency and support innovation.
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in legal technology, combined with a deep understanding of legal business processes. They will work closely with fee earners, PAs, and business services teams to support technology-enabled change initiatives — improving workflows through process analysis, automation, and continuous improvement.
The role reports to the Head of Infrastructure and Information Security and will involve close collaboration with IT colleagues, business teams, and external vendors.
The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Ownership of all technical aspects of the firm’s legal and GenAI applications. These currently include iManage 10 Cloud, Intapp Walls and Conflicts, SharePoint, the Office Suite, Litera Compare and Metadact, BigHand, M365 Copilot and ChatGPT Enterprise.
- Providing 2nd/3rd line technical support for all the firm’s legal and GenAI applications.
- Ensuring all legal and GenAI applications are secure and always operate efficiently through good maintenance and patching regimes and engage with our legal and GenAI applications vendors where required to achieve this.
- Leading on the successful technical design and implementation of new legal and GenAI applications required by the firm. Applications currently being considered include Verbit Legal Visor, Epiq AIDA, Exhibit Manager, etc.
- Evaluating emerging legal tech and GenAI tools for potential adoption.
- Contributing to the firm’s IT Strategy by championing innovative solutions.
- Working closely with the Director of IT, Head of Infrastructure and Information Security, Information Security lead, other Engineers and Senior IT Manager to provide configuration documentation and user-friendly best practice guides in relation to the firm’s legal and GenAI applications.
- Delivering training and guidance to the firm’s people on the effective use of legal and AI tools.
- Providing support to the firm’s Finance Systems Analyst and our vendors in overseeing the firm’s Finance systems including Aderant Expert Sierra, Billblast and iTimeKeep.
- Working with key stakeholders across legal and business services teams to analyse existing workflows, systems, and pain points.
- Documenting and reviewing business requirements to identify opportunities for efficiency through automation, integration, or process redesign.
- Collaborating with IT and vendors to recommend and implement practical, technology-led solutions that align with firm strategy.
- Supporting the deployment and configuration of business and legal applications to meet user requirements.
- Assisting with the testing, rollout, and user adoption of new tools and system enhancements.
- Creating and maintaining clear documentation for business processes, user guides, and configuration settings.
- Acting as a liaison between technology teams and business users to ensure clear communication and alignment on priorities.
- Supporting change management activities by contributing to training, workshops, and user engagement sessions.
- Helping to maintain application integrity by monitoring usage, collecting feedback, and proposing improvements.
- Identifying and evaluating opportunities to leverage data analytics, reporting, and automation tools to improve decision-making and productivity.
- Staying current with developments in legal technology and business process management, bringing innovative ideas to the firm.
- Assisting with vendor evaluations and contributing to the preparation of business cases for new technology initiatives.
- Ensuring compliance with the firm’s IT strategy, governance policies, GDPR, and ISO 27001 standards.
Skills and knowledge
Competitive candidates will possess:
- 3+ years’ experience in a business analysis or applications-focused role, ideally within a legal or professional services environment.
- Strong understanding of legal workflows and the role of technology in supporting legal service delivery.
- Proven experience working with lawyers, PAs, and business teams to map and improve business processes
- Familiarity with key legal and business applications (e.g., iManage, Intapp, Aderant, SharePoint, or equivalent).
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical and functional requirements.
- Experience supporting process automation initiatives (e.g., workflow automation, low-code tools, or document automation platforms).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with an ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
- Strong documentation, presentation, and organisational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Power Automate, Power BI, Teams, etc.).
- A proactive and innovative approach to problem solving.
- Familiarity with ITIL practices and service management tools is desirable.
- Relevant qualifications such as BCS Business Analysis, Lean Six Sigma, or Microsoft Certified Power Platform Fundamentals would be an advantage.
